They're getting so big....

I was watching my three crazies run (and crawl) around yesterday and it dawned on me how big they are all getting! My babies are growing faster than I want them to. No wonder some women have 15 babies...they keep trying to hold on to the last ones "babyness" until it's gone and then the withdrawls set in and there's only one fix. I mean who wouldn't want a whole dozen of these....

Just To Make Ya Smile.....

I took this a couple of months ago but because of my blogging hiatus, I have to share it with all of you now. How can you not adore this little girl?

Still No Picture's....

Ok, so I still have not been able to upload any of my picture's since I have to move a TON over to my external hard drive in order to be able to do so and that takes up quite a bit of precious time that I don't have just yet. But I want to make good on my word and get back down to business with my blog so here is a mediocre post to suppress all of your appetites out there ;) .

So as I said in the previous post we just got back from a little piece of heaven that is usually called Orcas Island off the coast of Washington State and only a short 3 miles from Canada. There is a little boutique called Olga's on the island and I LOVE it! Let's just say it is the ultra mini me of Anthropologie (and we all know about my love affair with that store), and it has some of the best finds anywhere. Well this time I found two books, one of which I would like to share some very serious material from.....it is:

How to Humour a Husband: The Mother's Guide (c 1920)
Synopsis
First published c1920, this book reflects a time when a woman's place was very much in the home. Now, with the lapse of time it has become both a fascinating and amusing read, though care should be taken regarding any medical advice given.

This book is absolutely hilarious...one, it was written by a MAN; two, on the back it warns you as to the medical advice given; and three, it gives the reader a glimpse in to the time of the ultra perfectionist "Suzy Homemaker". WOW is all I have to say, and oh man the poor author's wife. So I am going to be sharing little tid-bit's of this man's work on how a "real" woman should be. I guess the dude was so vexed about the outcome of his work I have yet to find his name, it is no where to be found on the book or on the Internet. So, here goes girls...lesson #1 (though as ridiculous as it is most times I must admit there a bit's I agree with here and there):

"Some women are everything a man can desire in their courtship days, but immediately they join hands in holy wedlock they begin to develop slovenly habits under the impression that the little arts and graces they adopted to please their sweethearts are no longer necessary to please the same man as a husband: a mistake that all women would do well to rectify. There is nothing more disappointing  to a young husband when he returns home from work than for his wife to greet him with her hair screwed out of all semblance of beauty by a number of abominable curling pins, and untidy table, a badly cooked meal, herself anything but neat and tidy, and the house all sixes and sevens, whilst all the time she regales him with all the trifling domestic worries of the day. None of these things are likely to humour a husband unless it be to create a bad humour, and make him feel like a bear with a sore head, and wonder whatever he saw in this woman to make him such a fool as to marry her."

To be continued.....

All I can say is THANK GOODNESS I can cook.
